Getting there

Driving out of Puerto Jiménez, after you pass Barrio Negre, keep going for another 5 min. You will come across a speed bump on the left; you will see a school. Keep going, and there will be another speed bump. Right after the second speed bump, you will go another 200 meters you will see a sign that says Playa Canaza take the road to the right and you will end up on the beach.
The beach
The first thing you will see is an old cement, which is a great place to park. The dock, years ago, was one of the main docks that supplied the Osa Peninsula. At the time, the road going into Puerto Jimenez was nothing more than a dirt road.
To the left of the dock, there are some nice shade trees to sit under. The beach itself is small. It is a gravel beach.
Swimming
Playa Canaza is a great place to swim; it is inside the sweet gulf, Gofo dulce in Spanish, and the water is very calm.
Fishing
Fishing from the dock is very good at high water, You will catch snapper, triggerfish, and maybe a huge snook or roosterfish.
Snorkeling
50 feet in front of the dock is a nice small reef, which is great for snorkeling. You will see a rainbow of fish. Tip: Bring some bread and clump it up to feed the fish. They will take it right out of your hand. It is way cool having a school of fish swimming around you, eating the bread in your hand. It is a great beach to spend a morning or afternoon at.
