As you are looking at coming to the Osa Peninsula High Season 2027 | You’re Not in Kansas Anymore. There are several things that have changed from 2026. The Costa Rican government has made improvements. They have built new bridges going out to Corcovado National Park. The Serena Ranger Stations have upgraded the restrooms and sewage plant.
This will be my 15th year living on the Osa Peninsula. If you’ve never been to the Osa Peninsula, you’re not in Kansas anymore. is the best way to describe the Osa Peninsula. I hope you find this article helpful.
The new municipality
The new municipality has gotten a new garbage truck and has just bought two new gravel trucks to improve the roads. So progress is being made to make the place I call home better for you as a guest and for all of us who live here.
New Hotels and restaurants
Every year, new hotels and restaurants open up. I wait a full year before I write about them. Many startups last less than a year; if they make it a year, there is a good chance they have made their dream a reality.
New reatauants

Two new restaurants that I can recommend The first one is Brunchy; it is on Main Street in Puerto Jimenez. They have a great menu, including a american break fast.
The second restaurant is Selua Bistro. It has been open for 1 yr. The food is wonderful, and the prices are reasonable. I have had their hamburger, the works, and their Gallo pinto. Both times, I asked for a to-go container. The nice thing about the restaurant, besides great food, is that it is air-conditioned. I will be doing an article next week. Be sure to check out the restaurant page

New Hotels
The first hotel which is farliy new is. Abol De Vida https://www.arboldevidacorcovado.com/

When I took the above photo their sign was dirty; since then, they have cleaned. This is a boutique hotel in the center of Puerto Jimenez. It caters to vegan food, yoga, and also has a swimming pool. They have just opened up an apartment close to the beach. The prices are mid-range
The second Hotel is the Hilton resort. https://www.hilton.com/en/hotels/pjmcrqq-botanika-osa-peninsula-costa-rica-resort/ The resort is close to the airport. Hilton has done a great job making their resort have a green footprint. If you did not know it was there, you would walk right by it. A buddy and I did a day pass and had a great time. If you’re looking for American amenities and great food, The Hilton would be on top of the list.
Osa Peninsula High Season 2027 | You’re Not in Kansas Anymore, for a first-time visit

You’re not in kansas any more. If this is your first visit to the Osa Peninsula, there are things that will not seem normal to you. You do not flush toilet paper down the toilet. I have lived in the Americas for over 25 years, and there is always a wastebasket by the toilet. Tip: always have some toilet paper on hand. I went to the toilet and yep, no toilet paper; I ended up using my socks. Not cool!
Mosquitoes love new visitors.
Mosquitoes love new visitors. I am not sure why, but my buddies who come down to visit me, the mosquitoes love them. At night, we hang out on the back porch, and my buddies have mosquitoes all around them. Bring bug spray with you it is expensive here.
More than once, I have seen visitors with nasty red bites all over their legs. Don’t be those people. If you are staying close to the beach, put on bug spray- well, basically, use bug spray as your new perfume. It is not as bad as I write; it is just that some people get affected more than others.
Suicide shower heads. Some hotels will have cold showers. Other hotels will have what is called a suicide shower head. You have to turn on the shower head to warm or hot. I have never heard of anyone getting electrocuted by one. I use them every day.
The Weather.Hot and humid.
The weather will be hot and humid. Your clothing should be quick-drying. A good pair of hiking boots and sneakers, shorts and tops, and some long pants and tops for when you are hiking in the jungle. No need to overpack; there is a great laundry service in town.
Drink water all Day.

Drink water throughout the day. Try to stay hydrated at all times. I had one person who visited me get heat stroke. If I’m going to go hiking, I will put water bottles in my freezer the night before. I know that an ice-cold beer is good. But it will just make matters worse.
Book in advance
High season, means more visitors. If you want to visit Corcovado Park, you should book days in advance. You will have to go through a tour company that includes a guide. Booking your hotel in advance will make sure you have a place to stay. Popular hotels and eco lodges quickly fill up in high season.
Car rentals
Car rentals are also busy during the high season. If you want to rent a 4/4, booking in advance is a must. If you are flying into the Osa Peninsula, once again, book a month before your arrival.
It’s a jungle out there

The Osa Peninsula is one of the most biologically diverse places on Earth. That is why you want to visit. The wildlife is everywhere. The howler monkeys will be your alarm clock. Nature takes the top spot on the Osa Peninsula, and you’re just an observer. You do not have to go far, and you will be in the jungle.
You will be amazed at the wildlife The food is off the chart fresh, seafood is only hrs old. The local people are friendly; try to use your broken Spanish; they appreciate the effort. All of us who live and work on the Osa Peninsula will do everything we can for you to make memories that will last a lifetime.
Enjoy your stay
Yes, you will realize that you are no longer in Kansas, but is that not the point? To explore the Osa Peninsula with no reservations about what to expect, except a magical experience.
