The Natural Majesty of the Osa
The Osa Peninsula is a place where the pulse of nature beats with a raw, prehistoric energy, offering a level of beauty that is truly unparalleled. On land, the emerald canopy of the rainforest teems with life, from the iconic scarlet macaws painting the sky to the playful monkeys and elusive tapirs that call this fauna-rich paradise home.
The Sapphire Waters of Golfo Dulce
As you gaze across the glassy, sapphire-blue waters of the Golfo Dulce, you are witnessing one of the few tropical fjords on Earth. This pristine sanctuary is a world of its own, where humpback whales and dolphins dance beneath the sun in a breathtaking display of marine wonder.
A Feast for the Senses
Life here is a true feast for the senses. Every meal is a celebration of the region’s bounty, featuring the ocean’s freshest seafood and a colorful variety of exotic, sun-ripened fruits that taste of pure sunshine.
The Heart and Soul of the Peninsula
The true heart of the Osa lies in its people. The locals are a vibrant, happy community whose “Pura Vida” spirit is as warm as the tropical sun. It is a land of wonder, where nature and humanity live in a beautiful, harmonious embrace.
Corcovado National Park Tours
This is the “crown jewel” of Costa Rica. Whether you take a boat to Sirena Station or hike into La Leona, you are entering one of the most biologically intense places on Earth.
What you will see: All four species of monkeys (Spider, Howler, White-faced Capuchin, and Squirrel monkeys), tapirs, coatis, scarlet macaws, and if you are very lucky, tracks or sightings of pumas or jaguars.
Chocolate Tours
Learn the “Bean to Bar” process on a local organic farm. You’ll see how cacao is grown, harvested, and fermented.
What you will see: Cacao trees, tropical fruit plants, and the traditional tools used to grind chocolate. Best of all, you get to taste fresh, pure chocolate at different stages of production.
Night Tours
The jungle completely changes after the sun goes down. Armed with a flashlight and a guide, you’ll explore the nocturnal world.
What you will see: Red-eyed tree frogs, glass frogs, tarantulas, sleeping birds, snakes, and opossums. The symphony of insects and frogs at night is an experience in itself.
Horseback Riding Tours
A classic way to see the Osa, usually taking you through secondary forests and along the pristine beaches of the Golfo Dulce.
What you will see: Stunning coastal views, iguanas, and various sea birds. It’s a peaceful way to cover more ground while enjoying the rhythm of the horse.
Whale & Dolphin Watching Tours
The Golfo Dulce is a nursery for Humpback whales during their migration seasons (August–October and January–March).
What you will see: Humpback whales breaching or mother-and-calf pairs, plus year-round residents like Spinner and Bottlenose dolphins. You might also spot sea turtles and manta rays.
Hiking & Nature Walks
Guided hikes through primary and secondary rainforests allow you to slow down and notice the details.
What you will see: Giant Ceiba trees, leaf-cutter ants, toucans, sloths, and exotic butterflies like the Blue Morpho. Your guide will explain the complex ecosystem and medicinal plants.
All tour companies offer just about the same tours. The difference is the price and the service that they offer. I have used several tour companies, but in all fairness, I can not say which one is my favorite. One thing about living in a small town is to be open-minded, because we are Family.
