The beach
The beach is a nice sandy beach even at high tide. Walking the whole beach will take over a mile. Great exercise in the morning.
Fishing
I have been to Playa Drake 2 times for fishing. The corner is the best beach fishing I have ever done.
The corner is all the way to the end of the beach. You will walk past the police station and go another 100 meters, and you will be at the corner.
Swimming
The best time to swim is early in the morning, or late afternoon when the wind has died down.
Camping
The last time I was there, we camped on the beach with a tent, and my German Shepard dog, Alaska. My neighbor is a police officer, and when he has to go to Drake Bay, that’s when I go.
The trail
In the afternoon, I noticed a steady crowd of people walking a trail right past the corner. It did not dawn on me till the next morning. They were going to watch the sunset. So hit the trail around 4 pm to catch the sunset.
