Costa Rica loves their football. Every Sunday in most of the barrios, there will be a football game going on. It is a family event, and the whole family attends to cheer on their team. Some Barrios have a concession stand that cooks everyone’s favorite foods. If the Costa Rica national team is playing, the government will close down all government jobs for the duration of the game.
Basically, the whole country will watch the game. Even where I live in my barrio, U can hear people cheering on the national soccer team they are watching on their TV.
The first time I heard Costa Ricans get excited about their football, I was in a bar having a beer. I noticed everyone was watching football on the TV. All of a sudden, the whole bar exploded with enthusiasm. I was a little surprised at first. Now I know that they love their football.
The Costa Rica government gives each Barrio money for parks, which turn into football fields. Along with the football fields, the government also provides a community building.
The community building is used for events, Christmas, and a lot of social events.
When you hear everyone yelling, which will be everywhere you are in the mix of a football game. Es Pura Vida
