Welcome to Corcavdo National park. With so many tours that you can do on the Osa Penisula. Corcovado National park should be on the top of your list . To visit the park you will need to hire a guide. It is one of the only parks in Costa Rica where you need a guide . The reason being is it is easy to get lost or hurt going off the main trails in the park.
The cost to visit Corcavado National Park
All tour companies have different tours from a day hike to spending days in the park. Tours will range from $124.00 to over $600.00 for more that one day .

If you want to spend more that one day ,you will be sleeping at one of the ranger stations. They provide all meals , showers, and beds.
It is frond upon to bring in your own food . so make sure you hide your favorite snacks and to not eat them in front of anyone .
Getting to Corcovado’s National Park
Geting to the park . If you are starting your hiking tour at the beginning of Carate. You will get there by a hired Van ( included in the tour Pakage) You will meet at the Panderia ( bakery) in Puerto Jimenz, at 5am in the morning.
The bakery opens up at 4.30 am . This is a great place to have breakfast with a cup of Costa Rica Coffee. My favorite is the breakfast burrito.
From the panaderia you will take the road to Carate for 2hrs . Along the way your guide will point out diferent wild life , stop, take photos and continue to Carate.
Once in Carate the trail head will take you along the beach to the first ranger staion Sirena. During the hike you will encounter wildlife , ocean views , monkeys and if your lucky maybe a wild cat. The above photo’s were taken in the hike from carate to the ranger staion Sirena.

Corcovado National Park by a Boat
The second way to get to Corcovado National park if you do not want to hike all day, is by boat.
You will meet your guide at the new Puerto Jimenez Dock. Depending on your tour company , departures varies . Most boats leave in the early morning’s.
The boat ride is a adventure all by itself. You might see Whales , Dolphins’ and sea turtle.
The boat will drop you off at La leno ranger station. There are trails thru out the Ranger station and you will see wild life all day long . At the end of the day the boat will come pick you up and take you back to Puerto Jemenez .
If your in Drake bay you can get to the park by boat or hiking to ranger station San Pedrillo
Important!! You must Reserve your tour at least a day before. You can not book a tour on the day you want to go to the park. Plan ahead .
