Variety of restaurants of Puerto jimenez Costa Rica from a simple breakfast to a a huge seafood plater overlooking the ocean.. Then the other resturants will have a local breakfast . A local breakfast will have rice and beans made into what is called Gallo pinto. It is a rice dish with green, red peppers, onions, garlic, and a sauce, toped with fresh cilantros’. The breakfast will include Eggs , tortillas, fresh bread and the speical meat of the morning.
First thing First, Puerto Jimenez is a small fishing town that attracts tourist from all over the world. Number one choice for good, fresh food would be the Seafood. All the restaurants will have seafood on thier menu along with diferent food plates that will satisfy you taste buds.
Lets start with breakfast, there are two resturants in Puerto Jimenez that have a good breakfast, eggs, potaoes, bacon, french bread .

The typical bacon, eggs and fried potatoes breakfast will be hard to find in Puerto Jimenez. Only two resturants that will be close and even might have french toast. Both resturants are on main street. Walking from the soccor field going into town , you will walk past the police station , right across the street is Monka. They offer breakfast sandwhiches that are very good. Their bread is fresh and just the right amount of crust versus the soft part. If you ask they might make you bacon and eggs

The other restaurant where you might get a good breakfast is futher up the main street on the left hand side. Cafe Hellen. they also have great sandwhiches and have a breakfast menue , if they are open.

Typical Costa Rica breakfast. Gallo pinto, rice and beans, fried eggs, paltinos fried, and they gave me some fresh chesse. Total cost $8.00US
A Costa Rica Breakfast will be rice and beans, eggs of your choice and tortillas or fresh bread. A side order of meat usally does not come with breakfast ,so you should ask for a side of meat. The meat will be chicken, beef , or pork cooked in a delicious sauce. for lunch ask for the casado or special.
lunch special Casados. The special was chicken plus I orderd a side of fish cheviche. total under $10.00US

Dinners , seafood or hambugers for me , well and a good pizza!

For Breakfast , The bakery on main street opens at 4.30 am. The have all types of pastries and also sandwiches, pizza , filled meat pastries, ham and chesse, chicken or beef. My favorite is the breakfast burrito . Fresh coffee and juices . Also the bakery is the location to show up for tours involving hiking or some type of land transportation. The bakery is next to the police station on the right hand side of the street as you are walking into town from the soccer field.

Right across the street from the bakery is Monka resturant. You might be able to get a bacon and egg breakfast here with fried potatoes . They do have great breakfast sandwhiches, and the bread they use is perfect . Also they have a small ice cream station, their milk shakes are wonderful. The day I took this photo it was trash day in Puerto Jimenez

From the bakery if you walk to the next intersection 30 meters. Take a right and across the street is Soda El Localito. In front of the soda is a big almond tree , that provides lots of shade. They serve typical local food , from gallo pinto to casados , Casados are the daily speical. The food is excellent, a big plate , ask for their fresh jucies and thier home made chili’s

Staying on main street if you go another 50 meters or the next block, you will see a restaurant the Terraza it is up stairs, The pizzas and hambugers are delicious . What I like about this restaurant is it is great to people watch, everyone walking by down below. The beer is very cold.

Carolinas is on the main street in town on the right hand side of the street. It has been here for a long time. They used to open in the mornings ,but changed their hours to the afternoon and eveing. Their specialty is Italian. They have great food.

Right below the terraza restaurant is a fired chicken restaurant Yes it is a greasy fried chicken and fries. The chiken falls of the bones and add a cold coca cola and your in heaven. Plus it is very cheap. 2 pieces of Chicken and fries is under $4.00 US including french fries.

If you go a little futher down the street from the fried chicken restaurant , you will come to a soda. They have very good local food. Right across the street is a Chinese restaurant Their food is very good and the price is very fair.

Right by the end of the soccer field on the coner is a pizza Restaurant, It has been in business for a very long time, you wonder why, Great Pizza! Their extra large supreme can feed 4 people, The last time I bought a pizza there the price for the extra large was $36.00 .The price might seem a little pricey, but it is enough to feed 4 people ,which makes it a great deal. They are open in the afternoon and eveings.

On the left hand side of the main street , right pass Terraza restuarnt there is cafe helens, It has great food, I had a sandwhich that I wish it did not end, just one more bite. They also have great coffee. They are open in the afternoon for lunch.

Cheapest Hambuger in town! The Soda Colectivo has a burger, with all the toppings including French fries for Only $6.00 US. It is a pretty good hamburger .Soda Colectivo is located on the first road to right coming into Puerto Jimenez. It will be on the right hand side of the street. You will go pass Pali, the bus station a small wood shop then before you get to the hard ware store it will be on the right hand side.

The Beach road has 4 restaurants at this time. To get to the beach road ,you have to go all the way into town and at the Banks take a left, go down that street it will curve to the left. When you get to the stop sign after the curve take a right, go over the bridge and stay on that road. The road will go by the airport and then it will turn right down the run way. Stay on that road and it will curve on the end of the runway and you will see the beach straight ahead.
They are fixing a bridge that is by the soccor field , once the bridge is fixed you can go along the beach road , lot faster that going thru town, but it always takes time, kinda a Pura Vida type of thing.
Ok back to the airport route to the beach road. The first Restaurant will be delfines. It will be on the right hand side on the beach. The specializes in seafood. Their prices are in the medium price range, but the food is great and well the view is , did I already say Pura vida. The beach is a favorite place to swim . Friends came down last week and my Buddy got a huge lobster for only $40.00. Their fried snapper fish is under $15.00 and of course the hambugers with fries are only $10.00

The next restaurant is a Soda. They have the best ceviche’s in town. All there food is great and on the cheaper side.

Right next door is a Bar. They have the coldest beer in town, this bar is not on the tourist map. It is a local fishermen’s bar. At the end of a charter boat fishing trip , the captains stop in for a cold beer. The owner always has a stew cooking , that he gives out for free. Now the stew is free, what is in it , well don’t ask. On top of the bar hanging on the celling are all types of fishing lures . I have spent a few nights drinking at the bar, how I got home I do not have a clue.

Marisqueria Corcavado Restaurant There specialty is seafood and steaks. The family’s dishes, which are huge plates of diferent seafood platters, plus thier paella is outstanding. It gets busy starting at noon .The food is excellent .

If you start walking to the new Dock and go around the coner you will find Agua Luna. It is a new rrestaurant, but the owner has been here for a long time . I have not eaten there yet. But the word on the streets is thier filet mignon and chicken cordon bleu is out standing. photos to come. More restaurants coming soon.
