Coldest beer in town
Bar Dessau. They have the coldest beer in town. This bar is not on the tourist map. It is a local fishermen’s bar. At the end of a charter boat fishing trip, the captains stop in for a cold beer On top of the bar hanging on the ceiling are all types of fishing lures. I have spent a few nights drinking at the bar, how I got home I do not have a clue.
Free stew
The owner always has a stew cooking, which he gives out for free. Now the stew is free; what is in it, well, don’t ask. It is delicious, and after a hard day fishing, all the captains share stories about the one that got away. A few more ice-cold beers and the fish get bigger. I went fishing with one of the oldest and most respected captains in Puerto Jimenez over 10 yrs ago, and he showed me the bar.
This will be my 15 th year living on the Osa Peninsula. One of the first places I lived was an apartment. when I opened my door my neighbor, who was an American, and I became friends and many a night we would go to the Bar Dessau. By all means go checkout the bar. it is right on the beach, If the owner gives you a cup of stew, say thank youand eat it.
