Corcovado Beach Lodge as the name implies is located on the Beach in Puerto Jimenez. The grounds are manicured, with stone pathways throughout the lodge. There are 8 bungalows, 3 chalets, a beach house, and three apartments for long-term rent.
Bungalows
The bungalow’s rich woodwork is the first thing that you will notice, then the view of the sweet gulf through the windows. They each have bathrooms, and the main attraction inside is the bed
chalets
The chalets can sleep up to 5 guests, which makes them great for families. They also have wonderful woodwork.
Beach house
When I visited the lodge a couple of days ago. Some guests were staying in the Beach house. I will be going back in the next couple of days to take photos of the interior.
The Beach
The beach is maybe 100 feet away from your bungalow. As you look out your window, between the water and your window is a green lawn that is immaculate. In the morning, you can watch one of the Osa Peninsula’s magical sunrises while having a fresh cup of Costa Rican coffee.
The lawn is a great place to do yoga, as you overlook the Golfo Dulce, in English, the sweet gulf. To me, that would be a pretty good start to the morning, or it doesn’t get much better than that.
Swimming in the Gulf
The beach in front is a flat beach that goes out for 100s of feet and you will only be waist-deep. You might even see a curious turtle pop its head up to take a look at you.
Wake up to the sound of hundreds of green parrots
Right at sunrise, the Amazon parrots start to fly in the hundreds. They are singing in another day. The scarlet macaws will be next in the orchestra of the Osa Peninsula jungle. In the evening, the sound of frogs will put you to sleep.
Corcovado Beach lodge location
Corcovado beach lodge is located behind Delfines restaurant on the beach. Right before Delfines, if you come from the airport road. Take the road to the right. Go 150 meters, and you will come to the lodge. Tip: Delfines restaurant has great food. The lodge has parking, plus wifi.
Electric bikes and kayaks
The Corcovado beach lodge has electric bikes you can use for free. The kayaks are only $10.00 a day. Kayaking the Golfo Dulce is best in the early morning. Watching the sun come up in the middle of the gulf is something you will remember for a lifetime. In the mornings, the sweet gulf is flat calm.
Common Area
The common area is a great place to relax in one of the soft couches, read a book, or write in your journal. There is a small kitchen with tables and chairs. As you are having lunch overlooking the Golfo Dulce, you will realize that you have found a very special place hidden away from the mainstream of Puerto Jiménez.
The owner
Tomas the owner is one of those people who, when you meet him it is like you have known him for a long time, We sat down in the common area and the first subject that came up was erosion of the beach, tomas said that there is no erosion, and the last storm actually pushed 7 feet of sand on the beach. Then the conversation moved to when we were both younger men. You see, we are both older gentlemen, both retired from working for someone else.
So we were not in a hurry; we did what older men do. We talked about life. The topic of food came up. I told him I watch recipe shows; he laughed and had to admit that he did the same.
Tomas said that he had the ingredients to make a cheesecake in his fridge. I told him I just bought a filet mignon for supper. The end of the conversation came down to: how much do you need to be happy in life?
Corcovado Beach lodge. A hidden jewel
I go to the lodge from time to time. To me, it helps me relax and then try to answer the questions that always need to be answered in my life. How much do you need to be happy? Pretty Happy!
