Grocery store, There are two main grocery stores in Puerto Jimenez. The first one for cheaper prices on everyday products will be Pali( wallmart). It is located on the first road on the right coming into Puerto Jimenez. for every day product’s it will be cheaper in Pali.

Next grocery store is BM. Bm is located on main street all the way up ,it will be on the right hand side. BM prices are a bit more expensive, but the quality is there. Their meat department has a good selection of fresh meat. They also have some imported products from all over the world, expect to pay more for imported items, but hey gotta have my peanut butter.
There is also a fresh local vegtable store that has a lot of organic grown vegtables. It is located on the right hand side of main street, kitty coner to the catholic church. look to the right at the intersection and you will see it up a little side street.
Butcher Shop
The first road to the right coming into Puerto Jimenez , on the corner there is a butcher shop, They have fresh meat. You can order you meat if you ask. Lomo is a beef cut in Costa Rica, which is the back part of the Back strips on a cow, very tasty. All the beef in Costa Rica is very lean, not much fat. That being the case , do not over cook your beef. For a thick steak ,2 min a side on med high heat. Then let it rest for 5 min.
Post Office
Post Office is located at the far end of the soccor field as you are walking into town. it will be on the right hand side ,right before the pizza resturant. Costa rica mail system is slow. Sending a post card , might take weeks to get to its destination.
Print shop
Print shop. They can scan documents and print them out, Always a good idea to get your passport scaned in case you lose it. They are located on main street, right across from the bakery.
Phone Stores
Phone stores. There are two stores that I recomend. The first one is ICE. They are Costa Ricas electrical, phone and internet Company. They offer sim cards for your phones. So you can use your phone in Costa Rica with out having to pay for roaming charges. They also sell phones.
If you have a problem with your phone the place to go is Tico Cell. They can fix most problems with your phone. ICE is located right across from Pali. Tico Cell is located on main street down a side road to the left. Walking into town from the soccer field on the left hand side of the street. When you get to an intersection and across the street you see Terraz resaurant and the fried chicken restaurant , go left down the side street. Tico Cell will be on the left hand side.
Clinic
Clinic is located right pass the soccor field on main street, Walk past the post office, the Pizza mall and across the street to the right is the clinic. They can provide you with basic medical help.
If it is something serious you will have to go to golfito on the ferry, to get to the hospital.
I had one freind come down and they thought that they had a bug in their ear. We went to the clinic. They made us go online to fill out some forms. After that we waited for an hr, before we saw the doctor. The doctor looked in the ear , no bug! The doctor wrote up a prescription for their ear. Total cost, Nothing
. Please be very carefull and try not to get hurt, you might end up going to the hospital in golfito or all the way to San Jose.
Pharmacist
Now for simple stuff go to the pharmacy . The pharmacy can actually give you shots and most medicne is over the counter, no need for a prescription from a doctor. The Pharmacy is on the right hand side of main street.
Tire Shop
Flat tires. If you have rented a rental car and end up with a flat tire. The place to go is the tire shop. The Tire shop is located behind the soccer field. You can take the road before the soccer field and stay on the paved road as you are driving into town. Another way to get to the tire shop is drive into town and the first intersection take a left and it will be all the way down the road 30 meters. Cost around $4.00 to fix a flat, they also have used tires for sale. photos coming soon.
Laundromat
laundromat . One thing about the tropics , is clothes can get stinky. We have one professional Laundromat in town.
To get to the laundromat . Go all the way into town . At the bank of Costa Rica take a left . go all the way down the road. The road will curve to the right and come to a stop sign. Take a right , go over the bridge. On the left hand side you will see the Laundromat.
They do a great job cleaning your clothes. The fold them and put them in a plastic bag . They also offer express service. for express service , show up at 9 am . The charge by the killo.
Hardware Store
There are 3 hardware stores in Puerto Jimenez.
Grupo Materiales
Grupo Materiales has a good selction of tools , power tools, nuts and bolts. in the whare house it has everything to build or repair your house or project. Brian is the manager. their prices are usually the lowest in town. it is a good idea to check out all three hardware stores for prices.
I was looking for a barbecue grill. at Grupo Materiales they were $40.00 cheaper than the other stores.
Grubo Materiales is located on the first street to the right coming into Puerto Jimenez . you will gompast Pali, INS building and the bus station, keep going another 30 meters and you will see it.
Colono
Colono hardware store is best for paint. They also have a yard that has everything to build a house or project. their prices are a bit more than Grupo Materiales.
Colono is located all the way up town . it is kitty coner with BM grocery’s store . to the right .
Banks
Two banks in Puerto Jimenez . BCR and bank National .
About banking in Puerto Jimenez. Both banks have ATM. Berfore you take money out ask some one in the bank if theirs money in the ATM. A lot of times you try to take money out , the transaction goes thru but no money comes out. Welcome to the night mare. The bank will tell you to get a hold of your bank to cancel the transaction. The bank will not cancel the transaction in Puerto Jimenez . Never use a ATM that is not part of the bank. A ATM in a small store ,only use the ATM at the banks. Always ask if the ATM has money it. Take out colones.
BCR Bank
BCR bank is located on main street to the left before BM.
Bank National
Bank National is kitty coner to BCR bank on main street.
Fishing Store Rooster Fish
Rooster Fish fishing store is located on the beach road in Puerto Jimenez. The Bech road is behind the soccer field.
The store has a very good selction of fishing gear. From reels and rods to lures. The prices are fair . Penn reels are priced about the same as Panama . They also have kayaks you can rent .
